Optically based medical devices supporting revolutionary minimally invasive procedures, tests, and therapies.
Novel micro-optical components and high-precision micro-assemblies for industrial and defense applications.
Volume build-to-print and build-to-specification optics from the UV to Infrared for all market segments.
The Electrical Engineer will research new technologies, select key imaging components (sensors, FPGAs, etc.
), contribute to product definition and architecture; conduct detailed design reviews, performance analysis, system trade-off analysis, requirements definition and flow down, and test and evaluation of performance parameters at both the component and system level.
Outstanding communication skills are required to convey technical ideas to both the customer community and to engineering peers.
The preference is for this position to be based in our Windham, Maine location, but we may consider a candidate interested in working in our Gardner, MA location.
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in the design and manufacture of imaging electro-optical assemblies in a production environment is required.
Design experience for medical, military, or other similar harsh environments helpfulDirect experience with several electrical and electronic systems and subsystems including (but not limited to):
Image sensors and cameras (e.
g.
CMOS, CCDs, etc.
) Embedded microcontrollers, microprocessors, DC power supplies Analog to greater than 10-MHz and digital video signals to greater than 400-MHz rates EMI/EMC design Real-time Image processing hardware A/D AND D/C coupled detectors Motion control electronics for precision positioningThe non-negotiable skills include:
Schematic design and review.
Experience with USB, Ethernet, Video (MIPI, HDMI, LVDS).
Understanding of data protocols:
e.
g.
Asynchronous/Synchronous Serial (UART, RS-232, RS-485), SPI, SCI, USB, I2C and TCP/IP communications protocols.
Hand-on capabilities, ability to use electronic test equipment:
oscilloscope, digital multimeter, signal generator, frequency counter, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer.
Understanding of design for EMI/EMC requirements (e.
g.
MIL, IEC 60601, etc.
), and corresponding qualification testing These skills are desired:
FPGA / SOC / SOM based solution development experience.
Production environment automated test system developmentExperience with integration of electro-optical assemblies into systems / platforms Education requirements:
BS in a related Engineering field, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or MS in a related field and minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
