Clinical Supervisor

Company Introduction

The Clinical Supervisor will provide clinical direction of behavioral health services (with a specific focus on substance use disorder services) under the direction of the Regional Behavioral Health Director to sites within the Maine Department of Corrections. They will provide clinical supervision and direction to behavioral health professionals delivering both mental health and substance use disorder services for inmates. They will also provide behavioral health services consistent with expectations of professional training and experience (e.g., Psychologist). This position is expected to travel to all sites within the Department of Corrections with their primary office location being in Augusta, ME. Psychologist with substance use disorder experience preferred. Will consider a masters level clinician who has an independent license to practice in mental health and a Certified Clinical Supervisor license to provide supervision for substance use disorder clinicians.

Ensures that effective communication is maintained with Facility and CCS staff.

Qualifications

Education:???????

  • Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited college or university

Experience:?????

  • Experience with mental health service delivery systems
  • Significant professional experience in the mental health field that indicates knowledge of supervision techniques, peer review, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders and psychological evaluation techniques

Licenses/Certifications:???????????

  • Licensed to practice psychology in the State by the appropriate state licensing board
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Any other Certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract


Responsibilities

  1. Responsible to plan, supervise, and coordinate the clinical efforts of mental health staff at the institutional level as directed by the Regional Mental Health Director and/or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services.? Responsible to assist with coordination of departmental administrative duties as directed by the Mental Health Coordinator.
  2. Responsible for the clinical supervision and direction, professional education, and staff development of mental health professionals at the facility and for training of other facility staff regarding mental health issues.
  3. Responsible to provide clinical and consultation services in accordance with the CCS policies and procedures, policies and procedures of the Facility, and the standards of the American Psychological Association.
  4. Responsible to perform clinical services as described in the job description of Psychologist.
  5. Provision of overall clinical supervision and direction to mental health professionals at a major facility, ensuring that relevant ethical and professional standards of care are met.? Supervision needs may be met through individual and small group supervision, consultation, case presentations, or other forms of peer supervision.
  6. Assigns specific duties and clinical responsibilities to mental health clinical staff in accordance with their job description and education and training.? Notifies Regional Mental Health Director or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services and Mental Health Coordinator of staff?s inability to perform such duties and responsibilities in a competent, ethical and professional manner.
  7. Direct and supervise all mental health treatment planning for inmates.? Review, as needed, inmate individual treatment plans developed by mental health services staff.? Coordinate mental health treatment planning with other treatment programs in the facility.
  8. Provide clinical direction and oversight of Activity Therapy program.? Provide clinical direction to the activity therapy staff.
  9. Provide oversight of mental health services staff?s documentation in the mental health record of clinical services provided to inmates.? Oversight includes periodic chart reviews and in-service to staff on aspects of documentation of mental health care.
  10. In consultation with the Mental Health Coordinator, develop and implement goals and objectives for clinical services provided.? In consultation with the Regional Mental Health Director or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services, develop and refine facility policies and procedures to ensure that these meet not only recognized standards, but also the institution?s General Orders.
  11. Aid Mental Health Coordinator in staff selection and recruitment.
  12. In the absence of the Mental Health Coordinator, assume all administrative and managerial responsibilities and duties of the Mental Health Coordinator.
  13. Provide direct clinical services duties as outlined in the position description of Psychologist as needed to meet institutional mental health service requirements.? These duties may include individual and group psychotherapy, psychological testing, training, and crisis intervention.
  14. If assigned to a Reception and Diagnostic Unit, review diagnostic evaluation reports completed by mental health staff for accuracy and completeness.? Provide clinical supervision to staff regarding reports.? Complete reports as needed based on clinical complexity or department resource needs.
  15. In conjunction with the Mental Health Coordinator, provide clinical oversight of crisis intervention services.? Immediately notify the Regional Mental Health Director or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services of any instances of serious suicide attempts, completed suicides, use of therapeutic restraints, or use of forced medications.? Review any inadequacies with crisis intervention services and implement corrective steps as needed.?
  16. Provide timely notification to the Regional Mental Health Director or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services and Mental Health Coordinator of clinical concerns which may impact an individual inmate or the mental health services program.
  17. As provided by Policy and Procedure and as directed by the Regional Mental Health Director or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services, reviews transfers to Facility for appropriateness and clinical necessity and informs Regional Mental Health Director or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services of potential transfer candidates to correctional mental health facilities or community mental health facilities.
  18. Review Clinical Service Reports prepared by mental health staff in response to requests from institutional staff, the State Parole Board, and other appropriate agencies.
  19. Comply with employee standards of the Facility.? Compliance includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of a working environment and personal appearance consistent with professional responsibilities, development of harmonious working relationships, and timely notification of supervisory personnel of absences from institution.
  20. May be required to arrange and/or participate in a system of 24-hour crisis intervention services.? Immediately notify the CCS Supervisor of any instances of suicide attempts, completed suicides, use of therapeutic restraints, or use of forced medications.? Review any inadequacies with crisis intervention services and implement corrective steps as needed.?
  21. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  22. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  23. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  24. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  25. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  26. Post orders, if applicable, per site contract.
  27. Perform other duties as assigned.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
